新车间 [Xinchejian]

This is a 2 days workshop on building interactive installations with the vvvv environment using different camera tracking techniques and the Kinect.

Poeple should come up with some ideas in their mind and we try to realise them (or part of it) in groups. Participants from the multi-touch screen workshop can also bring their touch-screen and some ideas for interesting fun/experimental applications.

The topics covered in this workshop will be: Kinect skeleton tracking, working with kinects depth image, color tracking, face tracking.

Dates (2 days): Saturday Nov. 17 and Sunday Nov. 18 2012

Time: 10AM to 12PM, after lunch, 1PM to 5PM

Fee: RMB 500 (Please pay by cash at the workshop)

Location: XinCheJian, 2F 1035 Changle Rd. (corner Wulumuqi Rd.)

Requirements for this workshop:

- Must have basic knowledge of vvvv software (basic nodes, io boxes, renderer, transformations spreads)

- Laptop with Windows installed (Mac: bootcamp or parallels) (vvvv is windows only)

- 3 buttons mouse

- vvvv software installed, download here: http://vvvv.org/downloads

Nice to bring:

- If you have, bring your Kinect with you (we will have at least 2 Kinects at XinCheJian)

- If you have, bring along you projector/pico projector

- If you have, bring your PS Eye Cam or any other webcam

About the instructor

Partick Jost (elektromeier) born 1975 in switzerland. Like many boys at his age he became addicted to computers early, playing around on the commodore amiga, and developed an interest for computer graphics.

He did a basic art&design education 1997-1999 in the cities of St.Gallen and Basel Switzerland. He worked as an industrial printer from 2000-2004.

In 2003 he come to vvvv for vjing purposes. At that time he allready knew graphical patching applications for music generations like pd and reaktor, and he was very exited that something like this existed for computer graphics.

Since 2008 he decided to work fully as a freelancer and make his living just with vvvv patching. He worked for the following companies & brands:
