  • it’s XinCheJian’s 2nd anniversary this month, join us for a wild party @ the space – mark your calendars the 26th of march – it’s a Tuesday – we need help, we need your help – a BIG cake for XinCheJian’s birthday – feed 50+ people, you can make one or help organize one!
  • Robot racing – it’s on the 6th of April! 2pm – 5pm bring your 10 second cars! or your ultra fast line followers, the competition is just starting for the season, plus work on your car Thursday and Friday as it’s a tomb sweeping holiday!

Workshop Content：

In this workshop, you will learn how to make your own optical theremin. Optical theremin designed by Meng Qi, is simple to build yet very versatile, using lights to play music tones, very easy to play and fits every setup.

First you will learn the basic principle of the circuit – how it can make different sounds. After that, you will learn how to solder and assemble the parts step by step. Once you’re finished, there you are in the world of sounds! Start exploring!

DIY Crackle Box

Date：March 9th 2013（Saturday）

Workshop Content：

In this workshop, you will learn how to make your own Crackle box – MoMoMo. MoMoMo designed by Meng Qi, the concept was first conceived by Michel Waisvisz and Geert Hamelberg in the 1960s, it is a small box with six metal contacts on top, which when pressed by fingers will generate all manner of unusual sounds and tones.

First you will learn the basic principle of the circuit – how it can make different sounds. After that, you will learn how to solder and assemble the parts step by step. Once you’re finished, there you are in the world of sounds! Start exploring!

Chinese Lantern Festival Special Event: YuanXiao Night this Saturday from 7pm.本周六晚7点，来新车间庆祝元宵吃汤团

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!  Chinese Spring Festival celebration does not end until Lantern Festival, the 15th day of first lunar month which is 24th Feb. this year.  Besides solving puzzles on lanterns, eating glutinous rice balls and enjoying family reunion is a tradition.

We’d like to invite you, our XinCheJian family members, join us for the celebration and making rice balls together.  Come along at 7pm this Saturday (23rd),  bring your appetite and we will take care of the rest ;-)

Traditional black sesame, sweetened red bean paste, and salty meat fillings will be available; and you are more than welcome to bring your own secret recipes!

We love to have you all, unfortunately due to limited capacity, please kindly RSVP: jiaqi@xinchejian.com; and we can prepare  materials and foods accordingly, for maximum 25 people.  See ya there!

元宵节是农历新春第一个月圆之日；既是中国传统“新春”定义的最后一天，也是现代春节假日后的第一个重要节日。除了猜灯谜，赏花灯，和家人一起吃元宵（上海人俗称汤圆）也是重要的庆祝节目之一。值此佳节，我们诚邀会员们一起来做汤圆过元宵。

有兴趣的朋友，请于本周六（2月23日）晚7点，带着吃货的精神来新车间热闹热闹吧。我们会准备传统的肉糜，红豆沙和黑芝麻馅的，如果你有祖传秘方，也一起带来吧!

新年快乐，恭喜发财，大吉大利，万事如意！The long holiday is finally over and the regular weekly XinCheJian Wednesday open night is back online!
XinCheJian has been featured on the local TV station recently and has since generated waves of interest from local enthusiasts, numerous people has came to visit the space but no day is better than the Wednesday open night to visit XinCheJian to understand more about XinCheJian and meet more people who believe in hackerspaces.
又要疯了，新车间上电视了。上映当天就在乌鲁木齐路长乐路附近造成严重交通拥堵，男女老少奔走相告，来参观的人群是人山人海接踵摩肩，那真是高的高矮的矮，胖的胖，瘦的瘦，黑的黑似雪，白的白如碳，顿时上海其他地区万人空巷，人民日常经济生活受到严重影响（以上内容纯属夸张，如有巧合你也没招）。当然，如果您刚刚听说新车间，想进一步了解新车间，那你周三晚上的开放日不来就傻了。所以废话少说，赶紧来吧。

There is gonna be introduction on the new project Make+ exchange program by Sophia Lin, DIY CNC hacker Xu Genxin is going to share some of his secret on CNC building, Lin Ju is going to present his DIY heart rate and blood oxygen saturation sensor, and our founder David Li is going to do a short intro of Aqauponics.
If you came by the space recently, you’ll notice the miniature City project, you may see a demo tonight too!

Sophia Lin: Make+ exchange program is a four-month studio program in Shanghai. Welcoming artists, programmers, engineers, scientists, designers and other creative minds, to collaborate and to make ideas real!
Xu Genxin (徐根鑫 ) : Sales at a factory automation company by day, CNC hacker by night. He will present the third CNC machine he build from scratch.
Ling Ju : author of STM32 book (稀里糊涂学stm32), forum moderator for 21ic. He will present DIY heart rate and blood oxygen saturation sensor.
David Li : Pimp the fish: short intro of Aqauponics

Xinchejian in TV

This time, exactly the week before Chinese new year our Wednesday open house talk was recorded and broadcast in the Shanghai TV news yesterday evening. With a little bit luck we will appear in TV again and again if you (yes, you members) create cool projects which are interesting enough for the media to show.

Happy new year. Right to the beginning of the new year of the snake here the new video of our city project. This shows the first test with the 3D mapping and projection. The robots are not moving yet since the roads are not completely done.
