Wednesday Presenters Richard Summers Richard Summers longs to live next to the ocean and from the people upstairs (W+K). He will be giving a talk on past and future projects, and his goal of blurring the line between reality and virtual reality. He’s worked on a few projects: * Large scale pinhole photography * Photosynthesized Easter eggs with his latest initiative * Project: “High Tide” Freda 冯佳 Freda will be talking about an initiative to deal with pet issues. Many people view pets in this way: “A pet is for Christmas and not for life“. =Wednesday Presenters= A joint presentation involving 3 members of XinCheJian, talking about the latest mods to the game machine, it’s not Just another game machine! minecrafting @ XinCheJian and IRL plans! Qu, Wenzhen.. he’s going to present this week, he’s ready! He has been working on applying sensors and wireless technologies to agriculture. He will share a few projects already in the fields and how they benefit the people around them. =Wednesday Presenters= Huang Xinyu – Android/IR remote control, talking about hacking a standard IR plug and controlling any IR device possible, is this the all in one remote, straight from the power socket? Robin Zhang will be talking about and demoing interfacing with an Arduino through an iPhone/iPad directly and saving over US$40 and it’s MFi approved! This guy will be talking about building devices to monitor PH levels along with dissolved Oxygen and controlling the water to have 4 thermoclines, using a Zigbee network and finally passing the data back over a GSM network, in near real time, making commercial fishery management that much simpler R&D director Joan Llabata a multimedia Artist, developer and film maker from Spain and also the director of the R&D hacklab at GreenHouseCore in Shanghai. He studied computer engineering and arts in Spain but never graduated he was won many awards, he’ll be talking on Arts as a developer, the create perspective, conceptualizing, design and production of interactive systems, it’s exactly what we do, with more planning]]>

=Wednesday Presenters= Rodolfo Cossovich from Rudy Bike Fame will be presenting Next Generation of Building Systems: Fab-Lab Compatibility, talking about hardware parts that are designed to be interconnected to construct different devices and their applications. With the onset of cheap laser cutters, 3d printing and free (as in beer) or opensource CAD software making it even easier for people to get started and making things often out of reach, rethinking and rebuilding a huge industry from the ground up, from education in maths, sciences, designs, user skills and manufacturing processes with resources available at the touch of a button, do you build once or build to modify? it’s a presentation you should not miss. Jim Hotary director of Eastworks Innovation Center of Faurecia will be speaking tonight about how they get down with R&D to create compelling user experiences, most of what they do is closed door but we’ve convinced him to share, he’ll be talking about SmartFit the ergonomic app for your phone that adjusts your seat to the correct position for your body.  ]]>

June 2 from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm a specially organized children’s carnival, the Shanghai youngsters can share in the magic of building things! This “Young Makers Open Day” you’ll be able to see all kinds of fun we’ve had at XinCheJian in the last year, come see chopsticks the robot, see the crazy mousetrap, play with conductive dough, see the magic cap line patrol car, children’s programming software,  DFRobot presents their bomb disposal game with many many more things to see and do, you can also chat with some of the people behind XinCheJian and meet like minded people. We’ve also prepared a few workshops to get you started , “Soldering Workshop”, “ultra-light clay Workshop”. XinCheJian along with the great people from Techyizhu will also be preparing the spaghetti bridge challenge – a classic project, that teaches team building skills, builds character, introduces problem solving challenges and is also a fun competition to take part in. Parents are welcome to join in and will be expected to get their hands dirty, you’ll also learn something new. We Believe that participating in this event will bring a good deal of fun, education and allow everyone to explore. Nick a student from Concordia International school will be showing off some of his projects and some stuff they are working on in their hackerspace over in Jin Qiao. =Wednesday Presenters= David Li, the Foreman of XinCheJian And Roger Mu king of the jungle, will be kicking off the Hydroponics corner, a group is forming around Hydroponics, Areoponics – lets see what seeds they will plant first. Li Xiang a Ph.D Candidate from Shanghai Jiao Tong University will be presenting his project and also seeking help in an experience involving machine learning and robotics along the lines of Factory Automation for Docks.
