The Arduino workshop is great for those looking to get started with micro-controller programming and need a kickstart in the right direction. This is one of the most Popular workshops at xinchejian, Designed to not overwhelm people but provide the right balance of theoretical and hands on experience. Please do not sign up if you are not going to show up as you’ll be taking a seat from somone that wants to do it. This workshop will run in English.
You will need to have your own Arduino kit, we have DFrobot kits in XinCheJian for sale at RMB 210.00 – order online from DFRobot or Buy from us and help support the space.

* Connecting to sensors and hardware
* Followed by a discussion and Q&A

Description: Ever wanted to know what hydroponic gardening is and how it is different from regular gardening? Ever wanted to know how to start a plant from seed? Ever wanted to build your own urban gardening system? If you answered yes to any of these questions, then you should sign up for the Hydroponics 101 workshop on Sunday, December 29th 2013!
In this workshop you will learn the basics of hydroponics and what makes it substantially different from soil gardening. You will learn about the various hydroponic system types found in the world today and learn about how you can grow your own plants in a variety of urban environments, regardless of access to sunlight or soil. The second part of this workshop will be learning how to start plants from seeds and how to create clones of plants from existing mature plants. Finally, you will learn how to construct a basic deep water culture (DWC) system that you can place next to a windowsill to grow your own lettuce, herbs and cherry tomato plants.
At the end of this workshop, you will have both the knowledge, the equipment and the supplies to start and maintain your very own urban garden, using a system that takes up about as much space as a desktop computer case. The first 6 people that sign up will receive a bonus: live plants and seedlings to take home in your system, so that they can start growing with their system right away! Speaker Bio
Mr. Cheng Tien Chong served as the Chief Executive Officer at Foxconn International Holdings Limited since January 1, 2012 until July 26, 2012. Mr. Cheng joined Foxconn Technology Group in 2007 and serves as its Corporate Executive Vice President, principally responsible for formulating, driving and implementing business initiatives and strategies and presiding over and leading organisations and operations. Mr. Chong has over 28 years of extensive management, marketing, sales and operational experience in the global electronics and engineering industries with multinational companies. Before joining Foxconn Technology Group, from 1997 to 2007, he served as the President of the Asia region for Texas Instruments Inc. From 1992 to 1997, Mr. Cheng served as the President of China Hewlett-Packard. Prior to that, Mr. Cheng held various Senior Executive positions with Hewlett-Packard Intercontinental, Hewlett-Packard Asia and Hewlett-Packard Taiwan, respectively. He serves as a Director of Foxconn Communcication Technology Corp., Wide-Ranging Investments Ltd., Evenwell Holdings Ltd and FIH Co. ltd. He served as Director of Zhen Ding Technology Holding Limited until February 1, 2013.
